Hecklers come in all shapes and sizes. They have been the bane of artists since the dawn of time.
We (artists) have countered their slings and arrows the good old fashion way; by creating and disseminating even more art. This blow/counter-blow is one of humanities mighty engines, of progress.
Group of individuals apposed to any idea or questions that are at variance to their beliefs, have learned to use the internet to censor. Now they have frightening new powers both gross and verbose to potentially “Veto” the artist at last!
It is called the The Heckler’s Veto.
The Heckler’s Veto is not new but like a fire, it is growing. A hateful film posted on YouTube is the spark that has touched off this blaze, which in time may eventually engulf us all!
This is more bad news for the art community who, in recent years, have seen growing levels of censorship on privately owned networks like FaceBook, Flickr, YouTube, Google, etc…because of pressure from small but vocal groups.
